Three local fire departments - Havre, Chinook and Bear Paw - came together last week to practice wildfire management techniques during a training exercise at US Bank Park in Havre.

The firefighters spent an afternoon analyzing the weather and field conditions before creating a plan of attack and executing it during a controlled burn of a field in the middle of the park.

Havre Fire Department Assistant Chief Kelly Jones said the group tries to hold at least one training session a year in order to help stay prepared as Montana's wildfire season approaches.
