Busy weekend for outdoor sports

The heatwave that hit Havre the last week is scheduled to take a little break. But, that shouldn't stop the multitude of outdoor activities on what will be a big weekend in our area.

On the outdoors front, Fresno Reservoir will be busy all weekend.

On Friday, the lake will host the 2019 Fresno Youth Challenge, an all-day fishing tournament for youths ages 12 and under. The tournament is free, and kicks off an exciting weekend at Fresno.

The action will continue Saturday and Sunday with the Fresno Challenge. The tournament is Fresno's annual stop on the Montana Walley Circuit. To participate, fisherman must be a member of Walleyes Unlimited of Montana, and the entry fee is $250 per team.

Also on Saturday, the second annual Coal Mine Coulee XC will happen. The day of motocross will take place in Coal Mine Coulee, and is a 20-mile race in the foothills of the Bear Paw Mountains. The event is part of a professional series in Montana, and drew big numbers last summer. The weekend kicks off Friday evening with the Kids Course and Pre Ride on the Main Course. Saturday's action starts at 9 a.m. with a 50cc race and continues through the final A and B races at 3:30 p.m. The awards ceremony is set for 7:30 p.m.

Golf will also be front and center again this weekend, as Prairie Farms Golf Course hosts the annual NALSF Tournament, a four-person scramble to raise funds for MSU-Northern Athletics.

Of course, there's plenty of baseball action scheduled as well, with the Havre Jamboree at Legion Field and the Havre Youth Baseball Association Minors Tournament at Elk's Park.
