The family moved to Fairfield in 1937. After completing grade school at Greenfield, she graduated from Power High School. They bought a farm, had a dairy milking operation of 35-40 cows year round and 600 laying hens with eggs sold weekly to Super Save in Great Falls. Some of the crops they raised through the years were sugar beets, oats, barley, wheat and alfalfa hay. They lived on the farm for 47 years before selling it in 1993 and moving to Fairfield. In 2007, they sold their home in Fairfield and moved to the Skyline Retirement Lodge in Choteau. After the death of Herb in 2009, Esther later moved to the Beehive Home in Choteau, Rocky Mountain Care Center in Helena, and finished out her life back in her own community residing at the Benefis Teton Medical Center.
