Obituary - Doris Louise Bauer-Martin

Doris Louise Bauer-Martin, 92, a resident of Luther Manor Retirement Community in Wauwatosa, WI, formerly of Park Forest, IL, went to be with her Savior early in the morning on June 4, 2019.

She was born to the late Anna J. (List) and Eugene W. Linse on April 23, 1927, in a farmhouse near Modena, WI. Doris graduated from Augusta High School, Augusta, WI, received a degree in home economics and journalism from Northwestern University in 1948, and completed her master's in special education at Chicago State. She worked for the Quaker Oats company in their marketing department, and after many years of caring for her family, she piloted a special education program for the South Holland, IL, school district. Doris taught reading at Camp Buckskin, Ely, MN, during her summers. Upon retiring from 25 years of teaching, Doris spent many years with Discovery Toys and selling southwestern turquoise jewelry.

Doris was married to the late Luther Bauer from 1951-1973, and married the late Marion Martin in 1998.

She was blessed with and survived by four children: Jon (Dianne) Bauer of Miramar Beach, FL; Julie (Randy) Weyhrich of Milwaukee, WI; Constance (George) Manno of Park Forest, IL; and Richard (Denise) Bauer of Litchfield Park, AZ. Doris is also survived by 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom she knew and enjoyed. She is also survived by her sister, Charlotte Peapenburg of Peoria, AZ, and sister-in-law Lois Linse of Fall Creek, WI, and by so many beloved relatives and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marion R. Martin of Havre, MT, in 2009. She was also preceded by her brothers, H. Frederic Linse and Eugene W. Linse, sister-in-law Barbara Linse, brother-in-law, Pete Peapenburg, and daughter-in-law Sue Bauer.

Doris loved her Lord and was always actively involved in her church. She loved to bake and sew, read and correspond, cross stitch and knit, play Tic and Rummy games, travel, talk and smile and be surrounded by family and friends.

Visitation and a service celebrating a life well-lived will take place on July 5, 2019, in the Faith and Education Center at Luther Manor, 4535 N. 92nd St., Wauwatosa, WI. Visitation: 1-3 p.m., service: 3 p.m. Her remains will rest in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Modena, WI.
