Obituary - Brenelda "Chantell" Stanley

Brenelda “Chantell” Stanley of Box Elder, MT, 42, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019, at 6:35 a.m. in Billings, MT, due to natural causes.

Traditional wake services were held Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Her funeral was at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Anthony’s, and burial followed at Rocky Boy Cemetery today, Thursday, June 27, 2019.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Chantell was born January 6, 1977, to Barbara (Piapot) DuBois and Sandy Standing Horn in Great Falls, MT, and she was raised on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation. She attended and graduated from Wahpton Indian School in 1991, Flandreau Indian School in 1995 and Haskell Indian Nations University with an associate degree in business in 2002.

Chantell will forever be remembered as a beautiful, intelligent, loving, caring and beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, grandma and good friend to all she left behind. She loved being around her family, spending time with her children, siblings and grandchildren. She was always happy, smiling, laughing and joking around with friends and family. She enjoyed going on walks, watching movies, listening to music mainly country and classic rock, cooking, being outdoors doing activities such as swimming and whitewater rafting. She liked to do yardwork, scrapbooking, writing and she was always making friends everywhere she went. She’s always had a kind and loving soul with a friendly nature, uplifting spirit and funny personality. She worked at various jobs, where she loved learning new things. She’s worked in telemarketing, housekeeping, night auditing, cashier, bookkeeping and also worked for Fed Ex for numerous years. She was dedicated to her work, and remained loyal to her co-workers, supervisors and put her duties first from start to the very end.

Chantell is survived by her mother, Barbara Ann (Joseph) DuBois of Box Elder, MT; two daughters, Chanina (Ryan) Sangrey and Mindy (Jerome) Big Knife, all of Box Elder; sisters Yolanda (Robbie) Stanley of Billings, Roberta (Dan) Morrow of Ronan, and Loretta Stanley of Grand Island, NE; lifelong and childhood best friend Kellie (Loren) Russette of Box Elder; brothers Curtis (Gina) Stanley of Havre, Leonard Stanley of Great Falls, Travis Standing Horn of Rocky Boy, Harlan Flying of Frazer, Sheldon “Ducky” Stanley, and Aldin “Roscoe” Stanley both of Box Elder; two grandsons, Fred and Justice Big Knife and another on the way; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sandy Standing Horn; grandma Bessie Chandler; sister Priscilla Flying/Jackson; brother Trevor Jay Standing Horn; and aunts Carmie and Elaine Chandler.
