Rain could hit Independence Day celebrations

Two flags wave in the rain Wednesday at a fireworks stand on 2nd Street in Havre. Independence Day will likely see rain throughout the day.

Rain showers were hitting north-central Montana today, and a chance of more showers and thunderstorms could dampen celebrations in the region on Independence Day.

National Weather Service predicts a chance of rain today through 3 p.m. with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. and showers possible through the evening, mainly before 8 p.m.

The temperature is expected to warm up a bit for Thursday's celebrations - highs today are expected to be in the lower 60s today but up into the higher 60s and 70s on Thursday - but rain showers and thunderstorms still are in the forecast....
