Semi crash leaves driver dead

Police help guide traffic as a single fatality crash is investigated on U.S. Highway 2 Monday, August 5, 2019 about 5 miles east of Havre, Mont.

A man died this morning when his semitrailer crashed on U.S. Highway 2 about five miles east of Havre, Hill County Sheriff Jamie Ross said.

A call at 11:18 a.m. reported a truck had crashed on U.S. Highway 2. The truck had run up the embankment on the north side of the highway and rolled onto its side.

Montana Highway Patrol, Hill Country Sheriff's Office and Havre Fire Department responded to the scene.

Ross said the investigation is being conducted by the Highway Patrol. He added that fuel was leaking from the truck.

Highway Patrol said the investigation is still ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
