News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Lifesavors

You know, Lord, now and then things just happen that are very pleasing to the eyes — well, maybe pleasing to all of our senses. One can’t help but pause and simply stand in wonderment about Your creation. It really is a shame we don’t notice the happenings daily, or even hourly, but we don’t. We take things for granted, as though they were our due, and are there, specifically for our well-being. Lately, several such days and special events passed before us; let’s call them actions or special delights that we can take pleasure in and savor/enjoy them.

Lifesavors:

Sunshine after a needed rain

Seeing real snapping turtles

A wrong turn reveals new scenery

Far-away friend phoned

Rhubarb sauce on ice cream

Bluebirds splashing in birdbath

Bearded iris in full bloom

Forest air-conditioning

Cattle “queue” on crest of hill

Farmers haying and seeding

A root beer float

Sunset reflected on North Lake

The wind moans and whistles

Insect music

Butterflies doing pushups on flower petals.

Waving fields of grain white unto harvest

Corn, tall, stately sword-edged

Garden veggies that please the palate

Friend sharing a dessert

Postman brings a book

Neighbor’s house got painted.

Neighbor girls come to visit

Sharing cookies with (can’t tell — you guess …)

Neighbor’s dog plays in their sprinkler system

Friend tells of fun of plunging into waves

A lovely day to be alive

Sunrises and sunsets

Cool nights for sweet dreams.

Lord, we thank You for Your infinite and satisfying love toward us, and that daily, hourly, You show us, through Your creation, wonderful things to savor. We read in Ephesians 3: 20-21: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to the power that works within us, to Him be glory. … throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” Thank You, Lord, for Lifesavors.

Love, Mara
