News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Carefree

You know, Lord, as the season rapidly changes into autumn, we notice that the birds are preparing to leave. A friend reminded me of a story she had heard about a bird's nest under the railroad tracks. She remembered in the story that the mother bird was sitting peacefully on her eggs and appeared undisturbed by the roar of the fast trains above and around her.

Friend D. L. then recited the little verse she recalled that had gone along with this story - author is unknown.

"Said the robin to the sparrow,

"'I should really like to know,

"'Why these anxious human beings

"'Rush about and worry so.'

Said the sparrow to the robin,

"'Friend, I think that it must be,

"'That they have no heavenly Father

"'Such as cares for you and me.'"

We need to take a moment to remember Your carefree attitude, Lord, which You used to underscore the fact for us, that worrying is unnatural. Each one of us needs to learn in our own lives, day by day, to keep our mind centered on You, and know that worries and anxieties and all the concerns of the world, will pass, and nothing but "perfect peace" will be left in our human hearts.  We must keep in mind that You, Lord God have taken the responsibility for our care and worry. You have given us Your word in Matthew 6:26 (TLB): "Look at the birds! They don't worry about what to eat - they don't need to sow or reap or store up food - for Your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to Him than they are."

So, on this lovely autumn day, help us to fully trust in You, Lord. On this day help us to be constantly grateful for Your care and faithfulness. Thank You, Lord.

Love, Mara
