MSU-Northern harriers shine in season-opening races

The 2019 cross country season got off to a great start for the Montana State University-Northern men’s and women’s teams.

Last Friday, Northern was in Helena for the Carroll College Early Bird Invitational, and both teams produced outstanding results.

The Lights finished in second place out of five teams, while the Skylights finished third out of five teams in attendance.

Altogether, there were 36 runners competing in the men’s race. Field Soosloff led the Lights running at 27:36.60, taking 6th place. Amos Taiswa took 7th place passing the finish line in 7th with a time of 28:11:.50. Luke Karnauskas took 8th, as Gabriel Strader took 10th. Kai Krumwiede crossed the finish line in 11th place and Eddie Harmon took 12th.

On the women’s side, there were 39 individuals running at the invite. Allison Tigert led the Skylights, as she crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 20:15.30. Rachel David come in sixth place with a time of 20:49.80. Kaylee Nystrom crossed the line in 15th place, as Ashley McCready-Romero took 16th. Raini Jonson came in at 20th place and Kaitlin Nystrom completed her run in 21st.

The Lights and Skylights head to Billings this Friday for Frontier Conference preview Meet, hosted by Rocky Mountain College.
