Local Golf Report: Jeremy Jensen wins again

From Tee to Green

It’s kind of ironic the awesome turn the weather took at the end of last weekend, and it looks like it’s going to stick around for a while. However, just a reminder, this column won’t.

Next week will be the final From Tee to Green for 2019, so as I always say, if you want anything published before I shut it down for the year, please let me know.

Speaking of shutting down. The last competitive tournament at Prairie Farms Golf Course was played out under hot, sunny and calm conditions Sunday, as the course held it’s Men’s Club Championship. And to no one’s surprise, Jeremy Jensen retained his title of club champ by carding an even-par 72 on a course that played pretty darn tough. It was Jensen’s fourth straight club championship win. Congrats, Jeremy.

Also congrats to Kelly Benson, who shot 77 and was overall low net for the tournament. Flight winners for gross also included, Jimmy Kato with a 78 in the first flight, Dan Leader, who shot 80 in the second flight, Patch Wirtzberger, who fired an 83 I the third flight, and Gene Harada, who shot 96 to win the fourth flight. Net winners were, Steve Bebee in the fourth flight, Steve Mariani in the third flight, Mark Kato in the second flight and Benson.

In closing, I’d just like to add that, even though I played like hot garbage Sunday, I had a blast playing and competing with my friends and all the guys. It was a great tournament, on a really great-shaped golf course, and the weather couldn’t have been better. So thanks to everyone who put on this year’s chipper.

While the golf season continues to wind down for some, it’s just getting started for the Montana State University-Northern Lights and Skylights.Northern opened their season at last week’s Argo Invitational in Great Falls.

The Lights took sixth place in the tournament with a 1,063, and were led by T.J. Reynolds who finished at 244. Troy Amsdon finished at 259 for the Lights, while Kyle Vandenacre what 263 and Matt Krueger finished at 297.

The Skylights didn’t have enough players for a team total in Great Falls, but they were led by Tiara Gilham with a 169 over 36 holes. Megan Vandenacre what 178 and Leotie Whitehead finished at 201.

Northern is at the Carroll College Invitational next Monday and Tuesday in Helena.
