Friday Night Lights: Quinn Springer is Havre Toughness

Hi-Line Athlete Profile

Havre High senior Quinn Springer is prepared for his last season as a Blue Pony.

Whether it's protecting his quarterback or breaking through a line to sack the quarterback, Springer has always been a key player for the football team.

Springer's passion for his sport shows on the field every game. The fall sports season is always a time to look forward for Springer. It's never a dull moment when the lineman is seen giving it his all alongside his teammates.

Head coach Ryan Gatch has always enjoyed having Springer as a force on the team.

"He's an awesome player for us," says Gatch. "Anytime we get Quinn involved in our program great things happen for us."

Springer started his commitment to football in fourth grade, along with a lot of his peers on the team today. As time moved forward, Springer would start on varsity his sophomore year as a center. In his junior and senior years, Springer put forth great play as a left tackle and a defensive lineman.

Springer's senior year, so far, has been highlighted through his defensive prowess. After three games, Springer has racked up nine tackles, six assists, three sacks, caused one fumble defensively, and two tackles for loss.

With another major home game tonight, Springer and his teammates are ready to show what they've got.

The Blue Ponies will take on the Laurel Locomotives, a team that made it to the semifinals in the postseason last year.

It will be an intense game between the two teams, but Springer is ready to wreak havoc on the Locomotive offensive line and its quarterback. With Springer on the line, Laurel will have to be prepared or be terrorized by Springer and the defense.

But before the home game tonight, the Havre Daily News caught up with the football standout for five questions.

HDN: What's your favorite thing about the game of football?

Springer: "The team chemistry. You build a family when you play with these guys and we've been playing, like I said, since fourth grade, so we feel like brothers."

HDN: What goes through your mind every time you get set on the line?

Springer: "Well, I think of my assignment first, what I'm going to do and just work harder than the guy across from me."

HDN: What are your goals for the season?

Springer: "You know, playoffs, baby. That's what we've been talking about since freshman year, so we're all excited to work for it and actually get there."

HDN: What are your hobbies outside of football?

Springer: "I like playing video games, hanging out with friends, driving around, stuff like that."

HDN: What's the feeling you have going into the home game against Laurel?

Springer: "We're ready to bring it to them. We got some new stuff coming in, and they just won't be prepared for that Havre toughness."
