Law enforcement investigating shooting death on Rocky Boy

Editor’s note: This version clarifies that the Hill County Sheriff’s Office sent a deputy coroner to Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation to determine the cause and manner of death of a fatality there.

Rocky Boy Police Department confirmed this morning that the department is investigating a death resulting from a shooting which took place Thursday morning.

The department referred any further questions to investigators who were unavailable for comment by print deadline today.

Hill County Sheriff and Coroner Jamie Ross confirmed that the Hill County Sheriff’s Office sent a deputy coroner to Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation early Thursday morning to determine the manner and cause of death for a fatality on the reservation. He referred any further comment to the Rocky Boy Police Department.

According to the dispatch log Thursday, the Hill County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Rocky Boy Police Department Thursday at 4:22 a.m. on Upper Box Elder Road.

The FBI, which has the lead in the investigation, was unavailable for comment as of print deadline today.
