Morales graduates from Air Force flight school

Leo Morales IV graduated Sept. 20, at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola.

His next assignment is with the Fifth Bombing Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base as a weapons systems officer on a B-52 Bomber.

Morales was born and raised in San Diego. His grandfather Leo Morales Jr., a member of the Miwok tribe, served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years,

His wife, Leo Morales IV's grandmother, Ellajean DeMontiney, was born in Rocky Boy, Montana, and is an elder with the Chippewa Cree Tribe.

Leo Morales IV was born to Teresita and Leo Morales III. Early on in his life, he began attending air shows and was inspired by military aircraft and serving his country. After graduating from Point Loma Nazarene University, he was selected to attend U.S. Air Force Officer Training School in Alabama. Once he graduated from there as a second lieutenant, he reported to NAS Pensacola and the 479th Flying Training Group as an aviator. His training with the 479th lasted just over a year.
