Money Matters for Women coming to Havre

State Auditor Matt Rosendale, Kris Hansen and other staff members from the State Auditor’s office will be hosting an event Thursday in Havre.

The event, called Money Matters for Montana Women, will be a financial and investment education workshop geared toward women, although the event is open to everyone, a press release said. It adds that the event will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Havre Inn and Suites.

“More women are playing bigger and bigger roles in the financial decisions and earnings of households, and many could be in a position to start, buy, or grow small businesses as current owners retire,” the release says. “Businesses shutting down because current owners can’t find someone to take over is a growing concern for rural Montana.”

It adds that Money Matters for Montana Women aims to give women the knowledge they need to make good financial decisions and take responsible risks, such as starting or buying a business. The program will cover a variety of financial topics, from savings and investments to Social Security to business opportunities.

Money Matters for Montana Women is a free event, the release says, and is co-sponsored and paid for by the Investor Protection Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to investor education.

Rosendale announced earlier this year his candidacy for U.S. House of Representatives.
