Volunteers help to clean up at Missouri River Breaks National Monument

What can 11 volunteers in canoes accomplish in a day on the Missouri River? They collected more than 250 pounds of trash, including five car tires, plastic bottles and bags, a sneaker and one lawn chair.

The volunteers participated Sunday, Oct. 6, in the river cleanup held by the nonprofit Friends of the Missouri Breaks Monument. Volunteers from Fort Benton, Helena, Missoula, Livingston, Cut Bank, Bozeman and Lewistown came to the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument for the event.
