Hi-Line Football Roundup

The Big Sandy football team had another exciting weekend after beating the Heart Butte Warriors last Friday. The Pioneers rattled the Warriors 88-6 to continue their dominant season.

Big Sandy did not waste any time to score points. The Pioneers put up 50 points to kick off a great first quarter. To start the streak, Clint Darlington caught a 21-yard pass from Ryan Roth, then Darlington returned a fumble to add more to the scoreboard. Parker Proulx followed up with a 41-yard punt return and the Pioneers' defense helped continue adding points with a safety. Senior running back Kade Strutz scored again for Big Sandy on a 35-yard rushing touchdown.

Brock Proulx was next on the list, and scored a touchdown with a two-yard run. Then the second safety of the night was tallied for Big Sandy. The Pioneers showed no mercy and found another spark as Roth returned a kickoff for 50 yards. Parker Proulx put up the last points of the first quarter for Big Sandy on a 14-yard rushing touchdown.

Fort Benton, one of the few undefeated teams left in 8-Man football, is sitting in a great spot for a deep playoff run and awaits to see its first opponent in the postseason.

The Longhorns have a rematch with Great Falls Central Saturday in Great Falls in a Northern C cross-over game.

Broadview-Lavina 74, Box Elder 32

The Box Elder football team hit another rough spot in a game against the Broadview-Lavina Pirates last Saturday, falling to the Pirates 74-32. The Bears season has been a tough one and it only gets more difficult going forward.

For the Bears, players Jayden Jilot and Kadyn Duran scored often. Jilot scored the first points of the game on a 22-yard pass from Duran and a 26-yard pass from Gabe Saddler later in the game. Duran ran for a one-yard touchdown and had a 63-yard kickoff return, as well as a 10-yard rushing touchdown late in the game.

But Box Elder could not keep up with the Pirates. Five straight touchdowns, coming from William Hanser, gave Broadview-Lavina a big lead later in the game. The Bears scored the last points of the game, but still fell to the Pirates 74-32.

Another tough loss stings for the Bears, but their focus moves to their next game.

Box Elder (1-6) will kick off against their next opponent, the Tri-City Titans (3-3), Wednesday at 4.
