A press release says that the meeting is free and open to the public and the meeting will be reviewing the FSA’s Agricultural Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs, which were authorized in the 2014 and 2018 farm bills.

FSA District Director Bryan Schoenfelder said the FSA is hosting a number of informational meetings across the state to discuss the provisions in the Agricultural Risk Coverage Program as mandated by the 2018 Farm Bill.

“It’s an excellent opportunity for (producers) to learn about their options under the new farm bill and make sure they are as informed as they can be to make their program selections,” he said.

He added that the Havre meeting will also include a short presentation by FSA Chouteau County Executive Director Bill Evans about the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program. He said that the program can be used to cover losses that producers may have suffered due to the early winter weather and snow storms earlier this year.

“I think the greatest benefit, all the time, is just the producers’ chance for education to know what their options are and be as informed as they possibly can be when it’s time to make a program selection over the course of the next five years,” Schoenfelder said.

For more information about the meeting, people can contact the local FSA office at 265-6792, ext. 3336.
