Vizsla Brewing sets anniversary party with live music

Vizsla Brewing in Havre’s Holiday Village Mall is bringing in some food and entertainment for its one-year anniversary party Sunday.

“This is a celebration of our one-year anniversary, it’s a milestone,” Vizsla Brewing co-owner Maria Naranjo said. “We’ve had ups and downs, it’s a lot of hard work and we just wanted to celebrate everything we have accomplished this year.”

The event features food from StrEATery from 5 to 8 p.m. and entertainment by T.J. Overcast from 6 to 8 p.m.

“I will be providing some entertainment by signing and playing my guitar,” Overcast said. “I will be doing a mix of original songs along with some crowd favorite classic songs.”

Overcast said his style of music is country with a bit of an emphasis on more traditional outlaw style country.  He added that he has been performing for over 10 years in north-central Montana, most recently as a member of the Plowed Under Band.

“I am currently working on an album that should be released in the early part of next year,” he said. “My lead single, ‘Small Town Prison,’ is available on Spotify, Apple music, or wherever you choose to stream your music from.”

People can follow him on Facebook at T.J. Overcast Music or at http://www.tjovercast.com .

“I am looking forward to helping Vizsla celebrate an amazing first year in business,” Overcast said.

Vizsla Brewing won Montana Brewery of the Year and also three gold medals in three categories at this year’s Montana Brewfest back in June.

Maria Naranjo said winning those awards has been the highlight of the year for her and the brewery.

“Only being open in such a short period of time and having that recognition, I think that has been a peak, at least for me that stands out,” she said.

She added that one of the biggest lessons this business has taught her she said that it is a lot of hard work to open a business.

“Everybody says the first couple of years it’s always difficult, it’s hard and they weren’t kidding,” Naranjo said. “Also, the biggest lesson is that no matter how good of product you have if you don’t advertise, don’t promote it, don’t get your name out there people don’t know about you, so they won’t come and try your beer. So advertising and promotion is bigger than I thought.”
