Chili feed, vendor event to benefit veterans, food bank

Veteran’s Day Vendor Event and Chili Feed will be Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the District 4 Human Resources Development Council building, hosted by Horinek Style Events.

This is a community feed and everyone is invited, event organizer Cole Horinek said.

The chili feed is $5 a bowl that will include fixings and toppings, the chili feed profits goes directly to the local Veterans Administration to help with programs they need it in.

“The purpose of the event is to provide not only a way for the community to come together, but also to raise money to be donated to the local VA,” Horinek said.

Anyone in any military uniform will eat free, he said, adding that the vendor portion of the event features a variety of different vendors, who are all donating toward another cause.

“A $10 donation (from each vendor) will go toward Havre Food Bank to help in their fundraiser with Town Pump.”

The Town Pump grant to the food bank will match money raised in the community.

He said that there is still room for vendors at the event.

“We have never done a Veteran’s Day feed before, but we have done similar charity events with varying degrees of success,” he said.

Canned goods will also be collected at the event for the Havre Food Bank if people would like to bring them by.

“My favorite part about these events is seeing the community come together for amazing causes,” Horinek said. “We strive to bring safe, family friendly entertainment of all sorts to Havre and the surrounding areas.”

There will also be a customer-appreciation raffle. Everyone who attends will receive a free raffle ticket and the winner of the drawing gets items donated by the vendors.

For people who would like to donate their time or food or to sign up as a vendor can contact Horinek at 301-3145, texts are preferred.
