ELF food drive exceeds 2018 donations

Havre firefighters took to the streets for two evenings last week as part of their annual Everybody Loves Firefighters Food Drive for the Havre Food Bank.

“It was a huge success. We had about 50 volunteers on Wednesday and 20 on Thursday helping collect food,” Havre Firefighters Union Vice President and head ELF Cody McLain said. “We would like to thank the entire community for their donations and a special thanks to all the volunteers that help to make it successful.”

McLain said they have received to date 7,701 pounds of non-perishable food. That amount, he added, is 1,000 pounds more than was donated for the drive last year.

McLain apologized to residents who were missed in their sweep of the city, but added that people can still donate to the cause.

Anyone who would like to donate non-perishable food items can take their donations to the Havre Food Bank 453 Seventh Ave. or District 4 Human Resources Development Council 2229 Fifth Ave.
