Montana National Guard offers to pay college tuition for members

Montana —Air National Guard is telling people who want to attend a state university — including Montana State University-Northern, Montana State University and University of Montana — that the guard can help keep members from becoming a statistic and graduating debt-free.

“College debt is one of the biggest obstacles for many pursuing higher education,” a release from Montana Air National Guard said. “The hurdles are immense. According to an article by USA Today in September of this year, the average debt of a college student reached $29,200.10 In the same article it was mentioned that, 57 percent of Montana Graduates had some sort of college debt due to loans in 2018.”

Montana Air National guard announced it will pay college tuition at all Montana state schools and colleges up to a bachelor’s degree starting fall term of 2020.

“If you know of anyone who needs a little help paying for their bachelor’s degree, have them contact the nearest Air National Guard or Army National Guard recruiter,” the release said. “Individuals should be ready to learn a new skill and gain valuable, transferable work experience.
