Letter to the Editor - Thanks to everyone for helping with speech and debate

The members of the Havre High School speech and debate team want to thank everyone for stepping up and helping us by judging at our invitational tournament Saturday.

Many of our regular judges took time from their Saturday to come and rank students from 16 schools, including Havre, as they competed in 17 different events, joined by several people who were judging for the first time or returning to judge after being out for several years.

We had some issues that slowed down some of the rounds, and the judges seemed to be very patient and all were incredibly helpful as we had to rearrange events and figure out how to make it work — thanks for that.

These students practice for hours to compete at tournaments in a season running from October through February, and each tournament and comments from every judge helps them improve their work.

We can’t thank you enough for giving up part of your Saturday to help these students in their competition. I strongly believe this event is very beneficial and will help these students in their daily lives for the rest of their lives. And we couldn’t do it without you taking the time to come in and judge and giving them helpful comments.

Again, thanks for all you do to make Havre High School speech and debate a success.
