Northern harriers wrap up a strong season in Billings

With cooperative, and warm weather, the Montana State University-Northern men's and women's cross country teams ran their hearts out at the Frontier Conference Championships last Friday in Billings.

In the season finale, the Lights finished fifth in the men's team results, while the Skylights also placed fifth on the women's side.

There were 50 individuals running in the men's meet. Liam Baez-Terry led the Lights running at 27:22.01, taking 16th place. Amos Taiswa took 19th place with a time of 27:41.97. Kai Krumwiede crossed the finish line in 24th place, while Field Soosloff finished 27th, Daniel Kirwa took 28th place, Luke Karnauskas took 29th, Gabriel Strade took 42nd and Eddie Harmon crossed the finish line in 43rd place.

There were 49 individuals racing in the women's meet, and Northern's Allison Tigert had a great race for the Skylights. Tigert finished in 11th place with a time of 19:39.70, just missing out on Frontier All-Conference honors. Ashley McCready-Romero came in right behind her in 17th place with a time of 20:08.2. Rachel David took 28th, while Kaylee Nystrom crossed the line in 29th place. Kaitlin Nystrom came in in 44th place and Raini Jonson completed her run in 46th place. Grace Schwenk took 47th.

In their final year of competing in the Frontier Conference, the Lewis-Clark State Warriors swept the men's and women's team titles in Billings.

Karnauskas and David also earned NAIA Champions of Character Awards for the 2019 season.
