Rocky Boy could see water shortage from line break

Residents asked to help locate leak

Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation posted on Facebook Thursday that the reservation’s water system was losing water at an alarming rate and the reservation Water Resource Department employees were having difficulties finding the break causing the leak.

The Chippewa Cree Water Resources Department said all questions from the Havre Daily News must go to Chippewa Cree Business Committee Chair Harlan Gopher Baker

The Havre Daily was told this morning he was in a meeting and not available until after 11 a.m., which was after printing deadline this morning. He had not returned a request for comment left on his voicemail about 9 a.m. by printing deadline this morning.

The Facebook post said people should check their crawlspaces and basements for water breaks or leaks. People living next to vacant or abandoned houses were asked to check them as well.

“If the break is not found soon we will be experiencing a water shortage,” the post said.

The post asked people to plan ahead and have alternative water supplies available.

Rocky Boy residents were asked to report any problems by calling the Water Resources Department at 395-4225.
