Ski fundraiser swap meet set for this weekend

Snow Dance Ski Association is holding a fundraiser swap meet starting today with people able to drop items off for consignment sale its ski and snowboard rental shop located at 417 First St., from 4 to 8 p.m.

A release said that the swap meet is a great opportunity for people to upgrade their equipment or get rid of their old gear. A person will be at the rental shop to inspect the equipment to assure the equipment is safe.

The event will have a $1 per-item cash-only fee to check in items for consignment. The Ski Association will provide consignment tags and paperwork, and people are expected to fill them out completely. If the paperwork is incomplete, the items will not be accepted. The Snow Dance Ski Association also asks that people not sign the form before dropping of their merchandise.

Straight skis, helmets and rear entry ski boots are not accepted, the release said. It added that the Snow Dance Ski Association also reserves the right to refuse any item.

People are reminded to clean up the items they put in the consignment, because they will sell better, the press release said. It added that people should note the size, color and brand of their items and estimate what price to list their items at. People also have the choice to lower the price of their items after 1 p.m. Saturday.

The release said that people will be able to shop Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bear Paw Winter Sports rental shop. Debit and credit cards will be accepted. People who have put their items up for consignment will also need to pick up the their unsold items between 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday. Any items left unclaimed by 5 p.m. will be permanently retained by the association. If an item sells, a 20 percent consignment fee will go to Ski Association.

The ski and rental shop should be opening for the season at the beginning of December to allow people to rent equipment to ski or snowboard around the state, and, depending on the weather, Bear Paw Ski Bowl should be opening at the beginning of January.
