The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team saw its season come to an end in the opening round of the Frontier Conference Tournament. But there was certainly no shame in bowing out to the eventual conference champions.
Friday night, the Skylights were swept by the Argos by the University of Providence Argos, by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-18 in the first round of the Frontier tourney inside the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls. The loss to the Argos brought Northern’s first season under new head coach Jerry Wagner to a close.
And while the Argos dominated the match, the Skylights certainly made plenty of progress as the season went along, as they finished the year 6-20. In Friday’s match, Rylee Burmester paced the Skylights with eight kills, 14 digs and a block. Elissa Lind added five kills and Shania Neubauer had an ace.

And again, there was no shame in Northern falling to the Argos. In three tournament matches on their home floor, the Argos didn’t drop a single set. They swept Rocky Mountain College in Saturday morning’s semifinal match, then swept regular season champion Montana Tech in the championship Saturday night to win the Frontier title.
