George Ferguson Column: For now, the truth of Cat-Griz is summed up in a hashtag

BOZEMAN - When Montana State head coach Jeff Choate first termed the Twitter hashtag #Ownthestate, following the Bobcat's win in the 2016 Cat-Griz game, I had to admit, it bothered me just a touch.

I thought: pump the brakes coach, it's just one game, and, it was a game that was still part of a pretty bad four-win campaign, in Choate's first season at MSU.

Fast forward to last Saturday though, and that hashtag that got on my nerves four years ago, it couldn't be more true at this point.

And whether it was Choate himself, or some creative member of MSU's marketing team who actually came up with...
