Havre Ford gives Boys & Girls Club donation to help feed hungry children

Press release

Havre Ford and the Ford Motor Company Fund want to ensure that kids don't go hungry this holiday season, and Havre Ford recently presented the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line with a check for $1,500 to help feed kids during the holidays.

"We know it can be difficult for some families to provide nutritious meals for their kids during the holidays," said Steve Steinmetz, general manager at Havre Ford. "We hope we can take some of that stress off our local families, while encouraging others to join us in the fight against child hunger."

"We are so thankful to Havre Ford," said Krista Solomon, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line. "This money helps ensure our kids have full bellies this holiday season."

As part of the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign, Ford partners with local Ford dealers to donate $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Montana, Alaska, northern Idaho, Oregon and Washington. This donation is in response to the increased demand for nutritious meals during the holidays, when many children lose access to school nutrition programs. It is estimated nearly 24 percent of children are unsure how their next meal will be provided.

The Ford Fund granted $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line. Havre Ford donated an additional $500 to the lub. The money will be used to provide meals and snacks at the club during the holiday season. The Havre club is one of 65 clubs across the five-state region to receive funds from Ford.

Over the last 6 years the Ford Focus on Child Hunger has donated more than $3 million to clubs, providing more than 10 million meals to regional programs. In addition, earlier this year, Ford dealers in the region collected 193,000 pounds of peanut butter - enough to make nearly 6.4 million peanut butter sandwiches - to help feed kids during the summer when school nutrition programs are closed. Havre Ford also participated in the peanut butter drive.

As the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, Ford Fund's mission is to strengthen communities and help make people's lives better. Working with dealers and nonprofit partners in more than 60 countries, Ford Fund provides access to opportunities and resources that help people reach their full potential. Since 1949, Ford Fund has invested more than $2 billion in programs that support education, promote safe driving, enrich community life and encourage employee volunteering.
