Havre's Riley Pleninger, right, takes on a CMR grappler in last week's Havre Invitational. The Blue Ponies move on to the Mining City Duals this weekend in Butte, a meet they've won many times.

The Havre Blue Ponies got their season started at home, with the annual Havre Invite. Now though, the Pony grapplers become road warriors.;

The second week of the regular season is always a big one for the Ponies with three days of wrestling in Butte. Havre will get the weekend started with tonight's Butte Central Mixer, but the real fun begins Friday when the Blue Ponies take part in the Mining City Duals.

And the Mining City Duals is a tournament that Havre has a long and storied history with. In fact, at one point, the Ponies had a five-year streak of winning the Mining City Duals title - which is an Impressive feat considering the Ponies are just one of a handful of Class A schools in an otherwise all AA field.

This weekend, though, Havre figures to be a bit of an underdog. The Ponies are shot on numbers this season, which will be tough in dual meets. Havre also has a bit of the injury big right now, which hampers things even more.

Still, HHS is one of the traditional powers in Montana high school wrestling, and led by veterans Connor Harris, Cameron Pleninger and Mick Chagnon, the Ponies will do their best to make some noise in Butte.

Havre begins the Mining City Duals with three matches in Pool Play Friday, followed by the double-elimination tournament on Saturday. First, though, the Ponies head to the Butte Central Mixer tonight, where they should get some extra matches and good competition.

Next weekend, Havre will be in Great Falls where the Blue Ponies will compete in the prestigious CMR Holiday Classic tournament for the first time in five years.
