Thornton receives Northern Montana Health Care C.A.R.E. Award

Press release

Northern Montana Health Care has announced it presented the C.A.R.E. - Compassionately Achieving Remarkable Excellence - Award to Laura Thornton, RN, a member of the case management team at NMHC.

Thornton was nominated by one of her co-workers. Her nominator complimented her on the comprehensiveness of her tasks. "Laura works diligently to make sure patient's discharge needs are met and is willing to go the extra mile to meet the needs of our community," was one of the many comments made on Laura's behalf.

"Laura always completes her work and has taken it upon herself to analyze and understand quality metrics and has put together helpful tools to explain these to others," Sarah Spangler, RN, director of NMHC's Medical/Surgical Department. "Her dedication to our organization goes beyond 9-5, Monday through Friday."

"I am humbled by this honor. Health care is such a demanding profession with an ever-changing environment with rules and regulations, politics and insurance, scrutiny and judgment," Thornton said. "Every day I see employees devoting their life to this community, from environmental services all the way to physicians and administration. I could not have been nominated if it weren't for such a supportive team. While not perfect, this organization is our life and the patients keep us going."

Thornton was presented with a special logoed jacket as part of the award.

The C.A.R.E. Award was started as part of NMHC's customer service group, The High Five Club. The purpose of the bi-monthly recognition award is to acknowledge employees who have served at NMHC in an exceptional manner by exemplifying outstanding service through his or her work, and consistently exhibiting a positive and supportive attitude. Employees at NMHC nominate their fellow employees for this award.

Customer service is important to Northern Montana Health Care. "Being the healthcare provider of choice" is part of its mission statement. Taking the time to recognize excellence in their employees is one of the ways The High Five Club tries to achieve this goal.

Nominations are now being sought for the next recipient.
