Volbright's 'Curiosity' featured in Artitudes

Artist reception set for Friday

Press release

Artitudes Gallery presents "Curiosity," artwork by Garth Volbright, for the months of December 2019 and January 2020.

An artist reception will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. on the upper level of the Atrium at 220 Third Ave.

Volbright is a native of Havre and a graduate of Havre High School. He said his love of sculpture began when he created an alligator out of paper mache when he was in the fifth grade. When he returned home from the U.S. Army in 1969, his interest in art blossomed and he began painting and sculpting regularly.

Volbright said he likes to experiment with different mediums and his curiosity is piqued as he decides how to start an art piece. This curiosity spills over into noticing how the art affects personality and mood.

Volbright said he believes that "curiosity is halfway to imagination." His work reflects this philosophy as the viewer is encouraged to use their own imagination as they explore his artwork.

People are invited to come to the gallery Friday for refreshments and to visit with Volbright about his artwork.
