25 years of the MLK Day of Service

Corporation for National and Community Service said in a release that the number 25 has been big for the last year or so at CNCS. First, it celebrated the 25th birthday of the agency, then AmeriCorps’ 25th anniversary, and next year marks the 25th anniversary of the Martin Luther King Day of Service.

Jan. 20, millions of people across the nation will observe the MLK Day of Service, making the federal holiday “a day on, not a day off.” The Corporation for National and Community Service has led this effort since it was charged by Congress to do so in 1994.
