Grief Poem - Help Us, Lord

They've gone ahead still missed a lot, their pictures on the wall.

A friend shared 'bout her broken heart, some things still make her bawl.

Their life was oh, so beautiful, his death a silent grief.

She knows he's in God's "garden" now, in sunshine and at peace.

She misses him so very much, but knows God's plan is best.

God granted him so many years, then gently bid him rest.

When we don't know what we're to do[1], we turn our eyes to YOU.

This Grief Road's hard, You'll give us peace and tell us what to do.

In silence now, we think of "them," and often speak their name;

But all we have are memories and pictures in a frame.

You're gone across the river, dear, to shore of Evergreen!

We long to see your face, dear one, but "River" flows between.

You may be gone; forgotten? "NO!" Nor will you ever be!

As long as life and memory last, we will remember thee.

We miss you now, our hearts are sore, no one can fill your place.

Your loving smile we truly miss, your peace, your gentle face.

It's been some years since you left earth and nothing is the same.

But in our hearts, you still live on, we often speak your name.

May winds of love blow, oh, so soft, and Whisper so you'll hear.

From morning light to evening star, we wish that you were here.

Some days just get so busy, Lord, our attitude's a mess.

Help us breathe in Your grace and strength; You're with us, nonetheless.

We have no doubt Your Word is true, let faith pour down on us.

In Grief we need a boost, dear Lord, fill us with Your kindness.
