Chamber continues goal of supporting local business

Editor’s note: This corrects the spelling of Havre Area Chamber of Commerce board member Kasey Dietz.

Executive Director Julea Robbins said the Chamber is continuing in the next year in its mission of helping Havre businesses.

She said during the Chamber's 111th annual meeting and banquet in the Duck Inn Olympic Room Wednesday that it has three main goals in the next year, with the first to align the Chamber's projects to better-represent the interest of businesses.

Robbins said she has been with the Chamber for now two years, starting as the office manager under Executive Director Jody Olson and taking her place as director last fall.

"This job has been a huge learning curve, but it has been an incredible experience, so far," she said. "In order to do the position justice, I set out three main goals."

"The Chamber is ultimately here to support the Havre businesses, so we are taking a look at everything that we do to make sure that it benefits our members, whether directly or indirectly," she said. "The second goal is to expand our tourism. Tourism is one of our largest economic drivers here in Havre and being at the top of Montana and a little out of the way it is important to put our efforts toward keeping our tourism alive, so that Havre continues to thrive."

The third goal is to grow the Chamber membership, Robbins said, adding that everything the Chamber does is because of its members.

The Chamber has 18 new members, local organizations and businesses, The Press-Espresso Bar, Schwan's Food Co., Lodestar Land and Home, The Garage, Fresno Tavern, Farmers Insurance-Kathee Kalthoff, Card Connect, Cenex Zip Trip, Air Bnb, Boy Scouts, Vizsla Brewing, Fat Billy and the Boyz, First Street Mane Attractions, Havre Trails, Infinity Bake Shoppe, Reel Therapy, Soulstar Designs and the Salvation Army.

As of 2020, the Chamber has over 300 members and 10 committees, and puts on over 30 events per year.

During the meeting, the Chamber also recognized Walmart employee Kasey Dietz as a new member of the Chamber's Board of Directors and former Executive Director Jody Olson. Former Board President and outgoing board member Stacy Mantle was recognized for 20 years of volunteering on the board.

People who are interested in being a Chamber member can contact Robbins at the Chamber at 265-4383.
