News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Hugging Day

You know, Lord, sometimes we need a reminder about certain things. How fun to discover that this coming Tuesday, the 21st, is called Hugging Day!

Hugging Day is a special day to embrace the hug. Give your “mum” a hug to show her that you really do care, that you love her, day in and day out; give your dad a hug to show him that he is loved and that you appreciate his attention in all that you do and have accomplished.  Give your best friends a hug to let them know they are awesome, and together you can accomplish some marvelous things and create great memories together. No matter what your age, do keep on hugging people!

Most people can’t afford to leave a huge inheritance to their children. However, everyone can leave a legacy of love, worship, faithfulness and kindness. Your legacy might be hospitality in your home, inviting some folks for dinner — some who have no place to go for the holidays; or having a Bible study; even showing kindness when there is none, or what fun to “give something” to someone in secret this week; wouldn’t that be cool?

Again, the most important legacy that you can practice and leave behind you is one of worship and service to God and showing love, sometimes with just a kind word or two and a hug. Don’t forget hugs! We need to let the Lord, the Light of the World, shine through us today as we give out some hugs. Reading Hebrews 13:1-3, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing, some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”

Thank You, Lord, for reminding us that giving to others, hugs included, is a privilege and a wonderful way to thank You for all You’ve given us.

Love, Mara
