Hill sets up general election race vs. Steinmetz in Bachmeier's district

Havre Public School board member Ed Hill of Havre filed Thursday as a Republican candidate for House District 28, which is currently held by Rep. Jacob Bachmeier, D-Havre, in the upcoming election.

Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line Marketing and Events Director Krystal Steinmetz of Havre previously filed as a Democratic Candidate for the election shortly after Bachmeier announced he would not be running for re-election.

Watch for more about Hill’s candidacy in a future edition of The Havre Daily News.

The House district essentially comprises the city of Havre.

No other new candidates were listed on the Montana Secretary of State website this morning as filing for state or federal elections since last reported by The Havre Daily News.

In local county races, most of the candidates to file so far are incumbents.

Blaine County Clerk of District Court Democrat Tami Sue Mitchell filed for re-election, and will be facing off against Jim Doyle, who filed as a Democrat in the race last month.

In Chouteau County, in the race for public administration, Jodie Butler of Carter filed this week as a Democrat. Incumbent Democrat Karen Brooke had not filed for re-election as of print deadline this morning.
