Obituary - Shane Arlene Jacobs (Hanson-Indahl)

Shane Arlene Jacobs (Hanson-Indahl) joined her parents in heaven on February 28, 2020.

Shane Arlene was born July 20, 1939, at the old Deaconess Hospital in Havre, MT. She grew up in Gildford, attending Gildford Public Schools, and graduated high school in 1957. While in high school, she often accompanied the church choir and soloists on the piano.

Early on, she developed a strong fondness for horses, enjoying riding on the prairie. She tamed her favorite horse Baldy, a draft horse mix. She would ride him along the old Highway 2, prompting a tourist at one point to call out "Goodbye Shane." While sharing this story in college, she earned the nickname "Shane" which has stayed with her all these years.

Following high school graduation, she attended Seattle Pacific College in Seattle, where she developed talent and interest in painting with oils. She worked for Great Northern Freight office in Seattle before marrying Bill Jacobs on Aug. 26, 1960 at Gildford Baptist Church. They lived in Seattle until 1967, when Bill took a teaching job at newly established Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell. They moved to San Jose in 1969. They were divorced in 1978.

Besides dedicating her life to raising her children and being a mom, Shane worked as an administrative assistant for General Electric and Hewlett Packard. Her favorite hobbies included "creative" cooking and gardening using her special green thumb. She also pursued her interest in painting with oils.

In 1995, she moved from California to Lynnwood, WA, to help in care of her parents. She started a pet sitting business, which she did until having a stroke in 2007. After rehab and recovery she returned to Gildford in fall of 2007. Forever grateful for her Christian heritage, while living in Lynnwood, WA, she attended Roots Messianic congregation, bringing greater understanding of that heritage through the Jewish people and God's word. Shane often emphasized the need to always pray and never give up (Luke 18:1).

Shane was preceded in death by parents, Ruth (2000) and Orville (2002) Hanson and baby brother, Orville Dwight.

She is survived by sister, Bonnie R. Hanson of Gildford; daughters Karen Sue Master-Akers of Richland, WA, and Reesa Dawn Jacobs of Murphys, CA; sons, Royal Jacobs of Los Gatos, CA, and Julian Jacobs of San Mateo, CA; grandsons William Hatch and Jacob Hatch of Los Gatos, CA; and grandson Jordan Jacobs of San Mateo, CA.

Numerous extended family of aunts and uncles and some cousins preceded her in death, and cousins survive her.

Services are planned for Wednesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at Community Church of Gildford/First Baptist Church of Gildford followed by graveside at Gildford Cemetery and then fellowship at church.

Memorials in Shane's name may be made to the Community Church of Gildford.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements and services.
