Obituary - Julius 'Sam' Nanini

Julius "Sam" Nanini, 88, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Care Center Sunday, March 8, 2020.

Cremation has taken place, and at Sam's request, no services will be held. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Sam was born June 5, 1931, in Great Falls to Peter and Erma (Luchi) Nanini. He was raised in Cut Bank, attending school there. Following his school years, Sam began working as a truck driver in the oil fields.

He married Julia McCulley in Great Falls June 19, 1952, and together they had four children. The couple relocated around Montana for Sam's job, finally making their home in Cut Bank, and later divorced.

Sam went to work for Getter Trucking and was transferred to Havre in 1972. The company sold, so Sam began working for Harris Trucking, moving on to Elenburg Exploration in 1980, from where he retired in 2001.

When Sam moved to Havre, he met Harriet Sparks in 1972, and they later married in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

He enjoyed yardwork, gardening, birdhouses, fishing and camping at their cabin in Beaver Creek Park. Sam was a social man who enjoyed joking and teasing, especially his wife and children. He had a wonderful sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his son Randy; former wife, Julia Nanini; parents, Peter and Erma Nanini; sister Mary Miller, and brothers, Fred, Bill, Joe, and Ralph Nanini.

Sam is survived by his wife, Harriet Nanini of Havre; children Gary (Kim Stevens) Nanini of Great Falls, and Marsha (Randi) Dibblee and Tammy (Bill) Frederick, all of Havre; grandchildren, Jesse (Heather) Dibblee and Mindy (Brandon) Hawk; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Brenden, and Logan; sister Bonnie (Lee) Manicke of Polson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
