Havre High's Cassidy Acor, middle, signs her letter of intent with HHS head coach Tamecia Jarvis, left, Wednesday afternoon in the HHS gymnasium. Acor signed to play for Miles Community College and will be joining her sister Kadyn there next fall.

The Havre High volleyball has had quite a few seniors sign their names to continue their careers after high school and now, senior Cassidy Acor joins that list, as she signed with the Miles City Community College Pioneers volleyball team Wednesday afternoon in the Havre High Gymnasium.

But Wednesday was special for Acor for another reason. Not only did she set her course for her future in college volleyball, but she celebrated her birthday, as well. After a stellar final season with the Blue Ponies, Acor will be taking her talents to the Pioneers.

Miles City CC has acquired a standout Havre talent that will be a great contribution to the team. But when it comes to why Acor chose to play for the Pioneers, she had some great reasons.

"Well, my sister plays there and I know a lot of the team," Acor said. "I just like the vibe there and the energy. I feel like it will be a good place for me to grow as an athlete and as a student."

Miles City CC head coach Chase Soennichsen and the Pioneers will have quite the player joining the squad next year. Acor was a big key when it came to putting up blocks for the Ponies. Not only does Acor have a great height advantage, but her determination to do well and her positive energy allow for the people around her to feed off it.

There is a lot of opportunity awaiting Acor at Miles City CC and although she may not have a set-in-stone path academically, Acor will have a bright future ahead of her athletically. In the end, whether it is on or off the court, Acor will be a person who applies herself to the fullest.

And Acor has her mind set on an end goal on and off the court, too.

"I'm hoping to just go in and do the best that I can," Acor said. "I want to play the best I can and get some points up. After two years, I'd like to go on and play at a bigger school."

HHS head coach Tamecia Jarvis is glad to see Acor move forward with her career, too.

"I'm excited she signed," Jarvis said. "She's had a lot of schools looking at her and she wasn't sure if she wanted to go play or not, but it made my day when I found out she was going to go play because that's all I wanted for her. I'm glad she finally made a decision and she's going to do it. It's going to be great."

With the future of her volleyball career ahead of her, Acor will aim to make the most of the opportunities and become a standout player for the Pioneers. Keep an eye out for the Havre graduate next year, because Miles City CC has gained a wonderful young athlete to the roster who has a lot of potential ahead of her.

Acor joins Blue Pony senior teammates Jessa Chvilicek (MSU-N), Sam Oliver (RMC) and Peyton Brown (Williston) in the volleyball Class of 2020 who have signed to play in college next fall.
