North Star issues additional guidelines with school closure extension

North Star Schools announced that during the extension of school closures mandated by Gov. Steve Bullock Monday that North Star it is expected to offer remote instruction to its students and is issuing guidelines on that instruction.

“It is important that all of you make sure that your students are connected to their teachers during that time,” an announcement on the closure said. “Teachers are reaching out by internet and phone, and students are expected to complete assignments and requirements from their teachers. We will begin to require daily check-ins for attendance as part of our requirements.”

The release asked people to view a letter being emailed out to all contacts or at http://www.nsschools.org for more information.

Bullock announced Monday that he was issuing a directive extending to April 10 his earlier order closing all Montana K-12 public schools to in-classroom teaching.

His directive issued March 15 had closed the public schools until this Friday, March 27.

His order Monday extended that as well as extending deadlines on other orders including restricting restaurants, bars and casinos to delivery, drive-through or carry-out delivery of food only, and also mandated “social distancing,” restricting gatherings outside of homes and residences to fewer than 10 unless more than 6 feet of distance between people can be maintained.
