Churches changes services in response to coronavirus

Editor’s note: The Havre Daily News received word Box Elder’s Living Waters Assembly of God Church was postponing Sunday services after this article was written.

Havre Daily News reached out to churches around the area to see how they are handling the coronavirus situation that affects its services and activities. 

Many churches around the area are cancelling or postponing their services in the churches and canceling activities due to the coronavirus, although some are using radio and social media to broadcast their worship services.

Churches who wish the Havre Daily News to provide information on what they are doing during the coronavirus pandemic can email [email protected] or call 265-6795 to talk to someone in the editorial department. They are asked to leave a voice mail if they call and no one is available.

The following are responses from churches the Havre Daily was able to contact.

HAVRE

At Van Orsdel Methodist Church, all gatherings and services are suspended till further notice.

First Lutheran Church is canceling all it's activities till March 28 and services will be broadcasted on radio at 11 a.m. KOJM - 610 AM and 98.3 FM. The COVID-19 pandemic has been affecting local religious activities as well as government and businesses, while some local churches are trying to continue services while practicing social distancing.

Havre Assembly of God services will be posted online at their website or it's Facebook till further notice.

At Havre's St. Jude's Catholic Church's daily and weekend masses are canceled, but the church will be open for people to pray, although they are urged to practice social distancing.

At Immanuel Baptist Church, Sunday service is not canceled, but the church will not hold Sunday school, nursery or children's church. The church's Bible studies have been postponed for the next two weeks.

CHINOOK

Chinook Presbyterian Church has suspended worship in its building as well as all in-person fellowship.

American Lutheran Church of Chinook Wednesday Lent and Sunday worship at the church has been canceled until Sunday, April 5. The church will be mailing out an "at home" style family or personal style worship for the next two Sundays, its Facebook page said.

United Methodist Church Sunday worship services and other church activities have been canceled for the remainder of the month. 

Chinook Assembly services can be accessed on its Facebook page and its Youtube channel.

Chinook Alliance Church has canceled its services and events throughout the month.

CHESTER

Chester Assembly church services for this Sunday, March 29 have been suspended.

JOPLIN

Bethel Lutheran Church in Joplin will not have Lent services Wednesday April 1. No church services will take place Sunday, March 29.

HINGHAM

Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church has canceled all activities till March 30.

INVERNESS

Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Inverness has canceled all activities till March 30.

BOX ELDER

Box Elder Living Water Assembly of God is postponing until further notice its Sunday services and will not meet on Wednesdays.

RUDYARD

Rudyard Calvary Evangelical Church will hold ZOOM meetings at 10 a.m. on Sundays. For ZOOM calling information, call 390-6011.
