Local Easter services move online during social distancing

Editor’s note: This adds services by Havre’s First Presbyterian Church that were left out due to an editorial error.

Churches and ministries around Havre have moved Good Friday and Easter services online in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Havre Daily News reached out to seventeen churches in Havre those and following is the information from the churches it was able to contact and information sent to the Havre Daily from out of town.

Churches with information are welcome to email it to [email protected] and the paper will get it online or in print as soon as possible.

Of those who responded, all said they would be having Easter service in some capacity.

Havre’s First Presbyterian Church is First Presbyterian is streaming live services on Facebook at 7 p.m. each day for Maundy Thursday tonight, Good Friday, and Vigil of Easter Saturday. Its Easter morning service will be streamed at 11 a.m.

Abundant Life Ministries will be holding “Church in the Car.” Worshipers can drive to the old parking lot at the Tilleman Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge dealership on U.S. Highway 2 East Easter Sunday and listen to the service from their cars. For health reasons, worshipers are being asked to bring their own equipment for communion if possible.

The Fifth Avenue Christian Church will have online Good Friday service starting at 6 p.m. April 10 and Easter service will be at 10 a.m. April 12. These services can be watched live on the church’s website http://www.fifthavenuechristian.com or on their Facebook page and will be posted to YouTube after-the-fact.

First Lutheran Church will be holding Good Friday Service at 7 p.m. April 10 on Facebook, with Easter service to held there at 9:30 a.m. April 12. Their Easter service will also be broadcast by radio on KOJM at 11 a.m. that same day.

Immanuel Baptist Church will be posting a short piece at 6 p.m. on Facebook for Good Friday with Sunday service posted at 9 a.m. The church said these will likely be pre-recorded.

Havre Assembly of God has no plan for Good Friday at this point, but Easter services have been moved online. Pre-recorded services will be available through The Church App as well as posted on their website, Facebook page and on YouTube.

Van Orsdel United Methodist Church will also be posting services to Facebook, and possibly YouTube. Worshipers are encouraged to pay attention online throughout the weekend.

Community Church of Gildford contacted the Havre Daily to announce it and Rudyard Calvary Evangelical Church have invited people to join them “as we reflect upon what Jesus’ death on the cross means during a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. April 10 via Zoom, then join us online at 10 a.m. Easter Sunday to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.”
