Cruise to honor first responders and health care workers set for Friday

Also collecting food for Havre food bank

Members of the community are invited to participate Friday night in a food collection event and social distancing cruise to honor the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will start at 5:30 p.m. at Rod’s Drive Inn and run till 8 p.m.

People may enter the cruise at any time.

“The purpose of this event is to show support for our first responders and essential workers,” Darla Bunton-Welch of Havre said. “I think we need them to know we appreciate all they do especially during this time.”

She said she and others are also doing this to get people out to enjoy the upcoming nice weather as well as show their support.

The event will be a way to also contribute to the local food bank to help those in need, she added.

The Havre Food Bank will have a truck at Rod’s Drive Inn, Welch said, to take  non-perishable food items, toilet paper and any other donations.

“We will end the cruise having everyone meet at the hospital parking lot by 7:55  for the honk and howl at 8 p.m.,” she said.

KMNC 90.1 will be providing cruising tunes throughout the cruise, she said.
