Havre Public Schools Education Foundation presented scholarship awards to Havre High seniors Monday, and some of the recipients talked about how it made them feel.

"I think it's very cool that families of the scholarships choose to use money to help students further their education," he said.

He is majoring in agricultural technology, he said, adding that his plans are to help the family ranch.

Angelina Toth said her plan is to get through the summer, finish 4-H and hopefully attend Pima Medical Institute in Dillon.

She said the awards will help her in her goal to become a veterinary technician.

"It's pretty exciting," she said.

Tana Lee Gorecki said she is honored to receive the awards.

"I'm very excited, because I just came here for the last semester of my senior year, so I was pretty excited to even be thought of to get any of these," she said.

For the past six years, she has been in Harlowton and then came back to Havre, she said.

Her plan after graduation is to attend Northern and study general education or graphic arts, she said.

"After that, photojournalism is the main goal," Gorecki said.

John South received the Sue Swan Community Service scholarship of $750.

"I'm very appreciative of the Sue Swan award and look forward to the college experience," he said.

He said his plan is to attend Montana State University in Bozeman and get a degree in sociology with a criminology option, and go through the ROTC program and get a commission to be able to go into the military.

Miya Wilting also said she felt honored.

"It feels awesome to have your work acknowledged," she said. "You work so hard and just have something like this proves it was worth it in the end."

Her plan is to attend Montana State University in Bozeman and major in biology, she said.

She said she'd like to apply her degree into the health care field or something environmental.

Recipient Andrew Boucher said he was pleased with the award.

"It's great," he said. "It feels good. It's going to help a lot with college. I'm very thankful to be one of the ones picked."

He also plans to attend Montana State University and study biology, he said.

Tymarie Hewitt also said she felt honored.

"It feels really good, like accomplishing, like you did it," she said.

She said she is in the U.S. Army and leaves for basic training June 8 and when she gets back from advanced infantry training she wants to attend Northern.
