Veterans invited to Montana VA tele-town hall Wednesday

Event will detail health care options

Press release

HELENA — The Montana VA Health Care System is inviting veterans to a tele-town hall Wednesday, June 10 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The tele-town hall will help connect veterans to their in-person, virtual and community care options. The MTVAHCS was selected last month as a lead facility among its VA region to expand face-to-face health care services. The Montana VA will also detail what in-person services are available, and cover their response to coronavirus and plans to continue to keep Veterans and staff safe.

“We are so grateful for the ways veterans have remained engaged with their healthcare during the pandemic,” MTVAHCS Executive Director Judy Hayman said. “For example, we’ve had a 364 percent increase of virtual appointments. We are looking forward to hearing from our veterans at this tele-town hall and helping them connect to all their health care options.”

Veterans are encouraged to call in to the tele-town hall to ask questions. To access the tele town hall, veterans will call 866-478-3358 Wednesday at 5:25 p.m.

MTVAHCS’s overall trust scores — which derive from Veteran rankings of their health care experiences — are at a historic high. MTVAHCS provides health care to veterans across Montana through a series of community-based clinics, the Miles City Community Living Center — Montana’s only federal nursing home — an acute care medical center, a nationally acclaimed sleep center and robust telehealth services.

The MTVAHCS serves more than 47,000 enrolled veterans across Montana — an area roughly 147,000 square miles in size. Veterans are cared for by a staff of nearly 1,200 at 17 sites of care across the state. One third of Montana VA employees are veterans.
