Barbara Mavencamp

Barbara Ann Mavencamp was born January 11, 1942, in Malta, Montana, to Vivian and Leonard McMullen. She passed away June 17, 2020, at home in Havre, Montana.

She grew up on a farm north of Whitewater and was home-schooled in the first grade. She started second grade at Whitewater Public Schools and in 1960 was the lone graduate.

She married Morris at St. John's Catholic Church in Whitewater and they resided in Malta, where their two children were born.

In 1966 they moved to Polson, Montana. Upon Morris' retirement they moved several times to Bigfork and Townsend before settling in Havre, Montana, in 1995.

She held numerous jobs while the children were growing up, CNA, sewing machine salesman, seamstress, potato sorter and bookkeeper. She volunteered as Blue Bird Leader and 4-H leader. After they moved to Havre, she worked as a retail clerk and restitution officer.

After her retirement, she volunteered at Highland Park School, MAT, and did sewing and knitting for charity. She designed and created angel gowns for hospitals and quilts for distribution to those in need through the church. She loved her church family and enjoyed participating in the various activities; particularly covering the cross with live daffodils for Easter Sunday's service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris; grandparents; parents; brother Robert McMullen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Katherine Mavencamp, Monte and Helen Mavencamp, Bud Mavencamp, Derald Omdahl, Barbara Henderson and Meriam McMullen.

She is survived by her children, Audrey (Marty) Barger and Daniel (Kathleen) Mavencamp, her grandsons Spencer (Brandy) Barger and Madison Barger, brothers Ray, Mike, and Terry McMullen, and sisters, Wilma Mavencamp and Pat Omdahl.

Barbara asked that any donations in memoriam be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
