Obituary - Samuel Frederick Vogel

Samuel Frederick Vogel of Havre, 95, died in Great Falls June 10, 2020.

Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havre. A luncheon will follow the service.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.

Samuel was born in Havre Jan. 14, 1925, to Otto and Mollie (Sauter) Vogel.

He was raised on the family farm northeast of Kremlin and attended school in Kremlin.

Samuel served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-46, and enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War for 18 months.

He later married Irene Burris and they were blessed with two daughters.

He worked many jobs, including logging in Alaska, doing seasonal work in Washington and Montana, worked as a heavy equipment operator, driving truck for the U.S. Postal Service and as a farmer.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Samuel was well-known for his gardening, especially for his tomatoes and loved motorcycles in his younger years.

He liked driving on the back roads and finding different country roads all over Hill County and beyond.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Burris) Vogel in 1983; his parents, and his brothers, Edmund, Raymond and Phillip Vogel.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandy (Rick) Graham and Debbie (Dale) Erickson, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
