Beach volleyball held in Gildford to benefit North Star

Normally, beach volleyball tournaments take place…on the beach somewhere. But, in reality, all you really need is some sand, and you can play beach volleyball.

And they've got that in Gildford, where a Sand Volleyball Tournament will be held this weekend. The tournament, which is a doubles competition, will have two divisions — a ladies 14-and-up division Saturday, and a co-ed 14-and-up division Sunday.

The tournament costs $20 per team and starts at 8 a.m. both days. There will be winner's bracket games to two sets of 15 and a third set to 10 if needed. Consolation matches will be on...
