Majors will contest HYBA city tourney this weekend at Lions

Minors and Babe Ruth tournaments still to come

In a normal summer, the Havre Youth Baseball Association would have already crowned its city league champions. But, this summer has been anything but normal when it comes to baseball, or any sports for that matter.

Still, while they got a late start, HYBA has managed to put together a baseball season, and this weekend, the first champion of 2020 will be crowned.

The HYBA Majors Tournament will be held tonight through Sunday at Lions Field. The Majors have been playing their season since June 16, and it will conclude with a four-game tourney this weekend.

Teams participating in the tournament are Northern Montana Hospital, Lions and Holden Hot Wheels. Games start tonight at 6, as well as Saturday with games at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. The double-elimination tournament is set to wrap up with the championship game Sunday at 9 a.m. and an if necessary game to be held 30 minutes laster if needed.

Three leagues are currently competing in the HYBA this summer, and next week, the Minors will hold their city tourney at Elks Park. Subway, Bob's Green House, Lewis Heating and AC and Lions are the four teams that compete in Minors this season. The tournament will start next Thursday night with a game at 5:30. Next Friday, games will be at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. followed by games at 9 and 11 a.m. next Saturday. The Minors championship game is slated for 9 a.m. Sunday, July 19.

The Babe Ruth League is also planning a city tournament as well. There are three teams playing Babe Ruth this year, and the league is planning a single-elimination tournament July 21 and July 23 at Legion Field.
